Q: Why hire a Coach?
A: When you hire a coach, you've invested in a partnership whose sole purpose is to help you to become more successful, regardless of how you measure success. You determine the direction that you want to go, and your coach helps you to get there, as quickly, efficiently, and as effectively as is possible. Synergistic in nature (the whole is greater than the sum of the parts), a coaching relationship insures that you will always get a greater return than your initial investment. Whether you want to pursue a passion, reinvent your career, fulfill your leadership potential, improve your business, or transform your life, Coaching Works. |
Q: What should I be looking for in a coach?
A: Since coaching is relationship driven, hiring a coach that "fits" best with who you are and the direction you’re headed is of essence. If you feel energized, motivated, and alive with possibility with your coach, you're on the right track. Your coach should bring experience, perspective, confidence, optimism, insight, and wisdom to the table, along with a well stocked "tool box" filled with items that expand your awareness, improve your clarity and focus, and facilitate successful achievement of your goals. Having the ability to be both highly supportive and constructively challenging is a must. In addition, your coach should be a skillful questioner, an excellent listener, a friend, business partner, cheerleader, consultant, and confidant. The bottom line: your coach should be someone with whom you trust will bring out the very best in who you are, regardless of what you bring to the table. |
Q: Do I need a coach or a therapist?
A: While coaching and therapy have many commonalities (including active listening, skillful questioning, feedback, reframing, goal setting, being relationally driven, etc.), there are significant differences that set them apart. For instance:
- Therapy bridges the distance between where you've been in the past, and where you are now
- Coaching bridges the distance between where you are now, and where you'd like to be in the future
- Therapy reconciles missed opportunity
- Coaching recognizes and realizes present and future opportunity
- Therapy is process driven
- Coaching is results driven
- Therapy focuses on making that which doesn't seem to be working, to work
- Coaching focuses on making that which is already working, to work that much more successfully
- In effect, therapy heals a wound, and coaching ignites a spark.
Both are powerful tools. Understanding their differences will help you to determine which one will work best. Should you need further clarification, please don't hesitate to contact us. |

Q: What are the fees for your coaching and consulting services?
A: Fees for our coaching and consulting services vary depending on the clientele served, and types of services offered. Please contact us for a rate quote. |
Q: Can I schedule a free consultation?
A: Because the quality of the coaching relationship is vital towards achieving a successful outcome, spending some time getting to know one another before making the decision to move forward is of utmost importance. With that in mind, initial consultations are always free. During this time, we'll both have the opportunity to ask and have our questions answered. If we both agree that we're a good fit, we'll move ahead. If not, you'll have more information with which to continue your search for a coach. Regardless of the outcome, we'll both benefit from our experience. |
Q: What is the standard format for coaching?
A: Each coaching session typically lasts for an hour, although session length can be customized based on client needs. New clients typically commit to 5-10 coaching sessions over a 3-6 month period, although both the number and frequency ultimately depends on targeted goals and desired outcomes established by the client.
Appointments can be completed in person or by phone. Please note that our home office is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. Should you live outside of this area, and desire to meet face to face, arrangements can be made to meet anywhere in the country (additional fees will be applied). We'll be more than happy to work with you in providing arrangements that best meet your needs. Please contact us for more information. |
Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: Making an appointment is easy to do. Whether you're interested in setting up a free initial consultation, or scheduling an appointment, simply contact us, complete the form, and submit it back to Coaching Works. Within 48 business hours (weekends excluded), we'll contact you directly to schedule your appointment. |
Q: What is Emotional Composting™?
A: Emotional Composting is a practical, powerful, and compelling emotional management strategy, which leverages the wealth of information inherent in emotions, towards improved relationship efficiency, effectiveness, and performance. Whether it’s business, professional, or personal, emotional composting recycles the most nutritious elements of emotional experience into a rich and fertile “emotional compost” (improved awareness, perspective, focus, insight, clarity, communication, trust, wisdom, vision, creativity, innovation, passion, opportunity, emotional intelligence, etc.). In turn, this can be leveraged towards future personal, professional, or business success, in much the same way that organic composting leverages the most nutritious elements of discarded organic remains toward the success of future plant growth.
By providing a quantum pathway which both uncovers and illuminates win-win emotional solutions, Emotional Composting eliminates win-lose/lose-lose emotional “pollution”. Among other things, Emotional Composting improves:
- Vision, clarity, and focus
- Levels of trust with self and others
- Alignment between values, goals, mission, and vision
- Motivation, innovation, creativity, productivity, performance, and teamwork
- Change, choice, and relationship management strategies
- Conflict resolution skills
- Stress management
- Interpersonal communication effectiveness
- Ethical decision making processes
- Thought leadership
- Emotional intelligence competencies
- Personal growth and development
